Summer 2017 Overview

This has been a summer for the books. Busiest the Thurmans have been yet. We had our first family vacation down in Florida at Seaside. Beautiful white sand and green gorgeous water made it one of the best beach trips ever. Then Addison was off to 4-H Camp at Lake Marion, SC. We followed that with a weekend at Myrtle beach. Then Blue Ridge Assembly Alumni Weekend hits where Addison and I had a mother/daughter trip followed by my dropping her off at South Mountain Christian camp in Bostic, NC. Next a week at Hilton Head and finally camp at home at ACC.

We have one week off and on Monday school will start. To say I am ready to get back to a schedule and some normalcy is a huge understatement.

Birthday Boys

I cannot begin to tell you how fun these boys are. 

Alex is the most advanced as far as talking and expressing himself. He is speaking in small sentences. He is also the most caring. He notices and cares when Will is upset. He alerts me to anyone who is in pain, distressed or discomfort. He cares..a lot. His concern is beautiful at such a young age; Promising in a world where most children only care about themselves.

William, though slower in speech is a generally happy child who overflows with love, sometimes to perfect strangers. There's not much better an ice breaker than having a handsome little blue-eyed boy run and hug your leg. He has some words down. He knows how to say "I love you" and says it unprompted. He is still the best snuggler in the world and the first to find mommy for a hug. Both so different...both so amazing in their own way. Both uniquely them. 

On the 4th of July

Today I ran my very first 5k. I didn't just up and do it, I trained for 9 weeks.
And today I pinned on a number and ran to the best of my ability and finished a little over 3 miles in a sad 49.15 minutes. With that said. I hate running. It makes my entire body hurt so bad and I have to sleep immediately after. I keep hearing that it gets better, but jeez. Anyway, I have no idea if I'll ever run another race but at least I did it once.
The most precious part of my day was the very end. We didn't go out to watch the fireworks this year. Instead I got the boys ready for bed and we opened up the shutters. With every firework came a joyous  "yay!"  From my dears followed by the corresponding color. It was such a happy little game. The sight of them plastered to the window, elbow to elbow, was just so sweet. I will remember that.
