Turning 4

I wanted the boys to have a great 4th birthday party because they actually have little friends now. The water slide was a mega hit. They are two amazing little boys who are now all potty-trained. They can both spell their name although they cannot write it. They know their entire alphabet and can start up the television or computer with no adult supervision. Legos are becoming a new infatuation for William while Alex is enamored with video games...expressly Super Mario Brothers. Who knew that a video game that came out in my childhood would be loved by my own children.

Don't listen to TLC, Go chasing waterfalls

This was a mommy-daughter, after-camp pickup trip. I fiercely love the mountains, so I take every opportunity to spend time there. We played at Pisgah National Forest and went in search of waterfalls. My daughter, being the city-girl she is, did not fare well being wet on mountainous terrain. We saw 2 waterfalls in all, but it was a really great trip.

Week at the beach 2018

This summer the boys were not afraid...of anything. We actually ran into Will's speech therapist at the complex and spent a day at the beach with her and her boys. The kids had a blast having playmates and being buried in the sand. Mostly, however, they loved jumping waves. I had to stay in the water to keep them from wandering out too far, but the joy of jumping I saw took me back to my first time riding the waves with my mother and how much fun I had. This will also be known as the trip that daddy spent 10 minutes at the beach before being stung by a stingray. Good times.

I think he loves his mom

Easter Weekend 2018

4/24/18

On this date I was blessed enough to be able to see my best friends child enter the world. What an awe-inspiring thing to witness! I was excited and scared as I watched the human female body do what it was designed to do. I am very glad that there was an epidural involved so the pain and the cursing did not overwhelm the beauty of what God created. Aubrey Kay...I saw you take your first breath. I will forever love you and be your Aunt G. What a beautiful baby. What a strong mama. I love you too my wonderful friend. You are amazing.
