Babies in the nursery
It is a fact that I must deal with at this point and time, that I cannot decorate the nursery until I know what we're having. I don't like this restriction. My creative juices have been flowing for a while and I'm dying to put them to work. However, over the weekend I discovered something...rather some things living in my attic. Apparently the squirrels have chewed a hole in my gable and with it being spring, a nest full of newborn baby birds now reside...right above the nursery-to-be. At least it was a fitting spot, I thought. So in my decorating I plan to includes a rendering of my baby birds..the first babies to grace the nursery with their presence.
Baby pics
These are probably the last pictures I'll get of baby until we find out the gender of the child....in about 5-8 weeks. These are also the first sonograms through the belly too. Probably why they're fuzzier than the other kind. All that chubb getting in the way..LOL. First pic is a profile view..the second pic is actually facing the baby. If you connect the dots correctly, you can see that baby has one arm extended by it's head. I think it's waving..saying, "Hey mom and dad!"

13 weeks!
We are in our last week of the first trimester..Yay!!! Michael went with me to the doc and got to see the baby move for the very first time. It was priceless..his reaction. The wonderment on his face was genuine awe. The baby looked like it was doing water aerobics it was moving so much. So much so that they could not hear the heart beat because it wouldn't stay still. And then a question I'm sure many dads-to-be ask..."you can't feel that?!?!?" So starting today, baby has it's own unique fingerprints and has started to pee for the first time...lol. This pregnancy thing is the coolest EVER. Although today hasn't been the best of days for me physically, I'm so glad to be on my way and see a real, live, moving little human the size of a shrimp bouncing around in my belly. Another 5 or so weeks and we can find out if it's a girl or a boy shrimp. :)

Stay tuned
I have my first appointment with Dr. Joseph tomorrow. He's going to be very excited to see me. We've dealt with infertility for 3 years together before going to the specialist. Stay tuned for some new pics of baby Thurman.

The zoo
Michael and I had the niece and nephew over for Spring Break. Here's our pics from the zoo. You can see I was especially amazed by the gorillas...and how close-up we were able to see them.

Running man
Today was my last visit to my fertility doctor. We're at 10 weeks, 4 days today. The sonogram was amazing. The nurse poked my belly to wake the baby up....and it did...and it moved, all over the place. I've never seen something so incredibly, unbelievably wonderful and awesome. I can't feel it move, but I saw it...I saw it on the screen!! I walked around the rest of the day with a huge smile on my face at just the thought of it. Here are our pics from today. There is a definite head and body. The second picture is a back shot..if you look close, you can see the spine. The others are more profile images. In all of them, the baby is upside down. This is the coolest thing ever..that's the best way I know to put it.

What's a kumquat?
I reached 10 weeks today! Baby is the size of a kumquat...
Can't say I've ever seen or tasted one of those, but here's how big it is.
This week has been super hectic. We've had to get 6 apartments ready to rent THIS week. I can't wait for Friday. Tired is such an understatement. I still have the continuous pregnancy head cold. It's like having allergies all the time. I finally got a good night's sleep last night..had the help of some tylenol PM, but it was oooooohhhh so wonderful to wake up having slept through the night. It put me in a good mood all day.

Anxiety
Ok...everyone. Has anyone experienced very strong anxiety during pregnancy? I wake up at 4 a.m. in the mornings and lay there worrying. I get so burdoned with future problems and what -ifs that it's almost crippling at times. I read that pregnancy can cause this mental stress, but gee whiz. There are some times when I try and calm myself down...try and be reasonable, but I do not think that I have the ability to be reasonable these days. Plus, it just doesn't work..trying to calm down. I get in a tizzy way too often. :(
